Dr. Elkin attended medical school at State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biological Science and graduated in 1996. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and then went on to a Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Elkin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.
After finishing his fellowship, Dr. Elkin moved to Savannah in 2003 to join Cardiology Associates of Savannah where he continues to practice. His publications include a Poster for the Heart Failure Society of America “Abciximab Use is Safe and Effective for Prevention of Restenosis After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in transplant Vasculopathy”, September 2001.
Dr. Elkin says he was first drawn to the clinical research field by the notion that there just might be new and better ways to treat old health. “My academic-based training in cardiac disease sparked my interest in clinical research,” says Dr. Elkin, “plus the desire to find new solutions to current problems. It’s a way to offer new choices for patients.” With five years of experience in the field, Dr. Elkin has seen first-hand that clinical research provides the ideal setting to improve medical care.
