Impetigo

Impetigo is a superficial infection of the skin, manifested in areas of small lesions located on parts of the body reached by the patients’ hands. The lesions may be covered by a honey-colored crust. Impetigo occurs most commonly in children and is most common during hot, humid summer weather.

The purpose of this study is to establish the efficacy and safety of Drug X in children with impetigo.

The basic inclusion criteria are as follows:

  • Children aged 6 months to 17 years with impetigo, where fewer than 10 discrete areas of impetigo lesions involving 2% or less of the total body surface area; and
  • No underlying dermatologic diseases, such as eczema or trauma to the skin.

Treatment on the study lasts for 1 week, plus another 2 visits for safety follow-up.
